On Mekkan there are five officially designated major seas. They are home to a wide variety of Aquamarine colonies, but are now primarily governed by a council of each world leader from Mekkan (Mekkanian World Council). Certain underwater territories are governed by the ASU (Aquamarine Sea Union) and kept in check by the Mekkanian World Council. It is generally not legal to prevent anyone from travelling the seas unless absolutely necessary, most travel is stopped at a given countries borders if there is reason to not permit entry. Sections of ocean may be closed off if they pose a great enough risk, while individuals may be stripped of their right to sail the seas as a captain or member of a pirate crew if the Piracy Code is breached.

Sitnaltic Ocean

A large stretch of ocean off the east cost of Avernus and Sanguina, bordering Midnight's northern coast. The Sitnaltic Ocean is generally very warm due to its proximity to the equator, it is the largest sea. The Aquamarine kingdom of Sitnalta is situated in the depths of the Sitnaltic Ocean.

Traders Reef

The Traders Reef is a long stretch of warm sea bordering the Isle of Flight, Drid'aRae, Buckwood, Mashara, Hunpo, Vega and the edges of Valkuria. The reef is teaming with life, especially near the Isle of Flight where the Reef Sea aquamarine kingdom is set up. The Traders Reef serves as a major trade route due to number of nations it borders. The name of the region stems from this history of heavy trade through this area. In the heart of the Traders Reef, somewhere between The Isle of Flight and Buckwood, a small island used as an Avian hatching ground exists.

Mariners Expanse

A deep region of ocean primarily bordering Hunpo, the Isle of Flight and Midnight, it is an empty sea that is oft marred by a dense fog in some regions. Even the bravest of sailors are wont to avoid certain areas of the Mariners Expanse for fear of becoming lost forever. Tales of pirates lost for eternity, and ghost ships haunting the fog instil fear in the weak of heart, leading some to find routes which avoid this sea as much as possible.

The Technocracy of Marinic [Marinic Technocracy?] (a faction of the ASU) makes its home at the bottom of the Mariners Expanse at the heart of a small region known as Corsairs Dread near the Isle of Flight. The regions name stems from legends of a group of pirates named the Corsairs who vanished after sailing into the area, serving as a warning to others to stay away at all costs. The Aquamarines of this region mantain the legends in order to keep ships away, allowing them to hide a vast shipyard and their underwater industries from prying eyes.

The Sea of Crags

this sea is notable for its vast array of underwater volcanic activity. It serves as the main passage between Vega, Midnight and the Wasteland [Valkuria, Avernus and the northern landmass]. The sea is considered somewhat perilous to sail through due to the large number of potentially lethal rock formations created by the volcanic activity, although a talented sailor would be able to safely navigate the waters without fear.

An Aquamarine colony has been built around one of the largest volcano clusters, ruled by the Salt Brine King. The region generates copious amounts of geothermal power, this is primarily used for efficiently obtaining salt from the oceans water to sell. [needs more on the colony itself, but ye]

The Dire Depths

An ominous stretch of sea between Mashara, Tierra Del Leon, Sanguina and the Amber Isles. It houses the longest, deepest trench on Mekkan, which was creatively named the Trench. While the surface is usually safe, it is ill advised to travel near the Trench when the new moon is in the sky, those who do not heed this warning may find themselves trapped within the grasp of the cursed souls that dwell within. While it is not illegal to fish in the area, it is recommended to avoid doing so as the area serves as a brutal prison for the worst criminals. This usage has resulted in much of the nature becoming as twisted as the cursed residents, thus not being as safe or lucrative for fishers.
