Wasteland
The Wasteland is a mostly empty stretch of frozen land, circling the south pole of Mekkan. The region mostly seems devoid of life when compared to many other regions of the planet; although, life is actually abundant if you know where to look. The capital of the region is hidden within the depths of a large crevice which opens out into an expansive cavern with a vast array of vegetation growing throughout and walls lined with a vibrant polychromatic spread of giant Mana Crystals.
Overview
The Kitsune are considered the dominant species of The Wasteland, they primarily live in the countries capital city within the depths of a large crevice. The species is generally perceived as being relatively monotypic by outsiders due to the relative lack of interaction between the Kitsune and other species, though a number of subspecies exist throughout the country, such as the Crystal Kitsune who have adapted to be more resilient to both the cold weather and the Mana Storms which batter the poles of Mekkan. Both The Wasteland and its Kitsune inhabitants are often seen as unwelcoming by outsiders due to the long history of isolationism enforced by the Kitsune, a cultural element that has only recently been completely repealed.
Much of The Wasteland appears to be an expansive frigid desert with nothing but snow as far as the eye can see, though a wide variety of environments are scattered across the landmass. Much of the life outside of the capital of The Wasteland has come to live within the many cavernous regions dotted around the region, along with some of the scattered wintry forests towards the outer edges. These regions are more capable of sustaining life due to the additional shelter provided.
Leadership
The Council of Nines
Kitsune society within The Wasteland is governed by a council of Kitsune who have gained their ninth tail by completing the trials provided by their deities. Most Nine-Tailed Kitsune assist the country by means of an area of expertise held by them, such as knowledge of a topic such as mana or weather, or a practical job such as espionage or artefact gathering. Decisions are voted on by the council in order to implement change, this has resulted in issues of cultural stagnation due to a general resistance to progress by many older members; although, more recent history has seen a push for fresher views to finally bring about major change.

Fauna
Polarans
A species of Ursine humanoids, often covered in soft, thick fur. They tend to make their homes within caverns in The Wasteland where they can safely store large amounts of food to keep themselves alive through spells of especially cold weather. Polarans are typically less technologically advanced than the Kitsune; however, a small number of their people have more recently been accepted amongst the Kitsune people, allowing for them to share in the advancements made by the Kitsune.
Locations
Seemingly unnamed capital
A city built within a vast cavern in the depths of a giant crevice. The city is split into the Chaos, Order and Balance districts, with many sub-districts within these. Each major district is built to resemble the concept the Kitsune Deities represent, almost seeming like 3 separate cities co-existing in the same space.
The Chaos District is formed of a series of floating landmasses above a seemingly bottomless pit, there is more plant life in this district than in the other two districts combined, with many of the landmasses being connected by bridges formed of giant plants. The architectural style of this district is much more organic and varied, almost feeling like a living city in a very literal sense.

The Temple of the Three
A previously abandoned temple which was initially dedicated to the Kitsune Deities, Amethyst, Erin and Foxy. In more recent history, the temple was passed down to the deities children, Discordia, Harmonia and Iolia. The temple itself has been restored, and upgraded, serving as a home for the trio, while the area around the temple has been built up and inhabited by a pack of primarily outcast Wolvians led by Rako.
