Rune Magic

Rune Magic is an old form of magic that has mostly been abandoned. Most magic works by channelling the power of the gates or another source of magic through an element of the body in order to cast, where Rune Magic instead allows the user to cast through symbols that represent an element of a type of magic. This form of magic allows for a user to learn advanced spells very quickly, however requires a deep understanding of runes to make use of.

Overview

Rune Magic users study representations of magic known as runes, these runes act as a means of allowing mana to be converted into the element the rune represents, and combinations of these runes allow for more powerful magic. Some magic may share the same combination of runes, however would give a different result based on how said runes are combined. Rune Magic can be used to apply a magical effect to an object, meaning it would be theoretically useful in making magically enhanced weapons without more complex methods required to fuel the magic.

Rune Casters would need to put a larger amount of mana into the initial creation of their runes, though would not need to use as much mana to actually cast a rune, as runes are able to utilise mana from their surroundings. Solely utilising mana from the surroundings would result in limitations to the extent of a runes complexity, as more complex runes would require more mana to be fed in to ensure they can be cast.

Users

Very few people still know how to use Rune Magic, with the most notable user being Cosmos, a Celestial Elf that is attempting to preserve the art of Rune Casting to ensure it is not lost to time.
